FAMILY: Natural dye for homemade playdough

Wow, this is a great recipe for a homemade natural dye playdough.

Raspberries and strawberries, Rose petals, Turmeric are just a few of the natural dyes you would use for these.

Click on for instructions on How to extract your dye

Playdough recipe

½ cup of flour
½ cup of dyed water
¼ cup of salt
½ tbsp cream of tartare
½ tbsp cooking oil
Combine all the ingredients in a pan
Put the pan on a medium to low heat and keep stirring until mixture forms a ball
Allow it to cool a little and knead it on a well floured worktop.

This recipe is for a non-edible playdough. Please also remember that natural dyes stain, so wear something old :)

DESIGN: Geometric Mobiles

I've always like paper crafts. This one is just awesome, and i'm not even going to try to figure out how it's done!

Stu Hughes of Vancouver, Canada creates geometric spheres as a relaxing hobby. Impressively complex designs, his mobiles are perfectly balanced with spheres that suspend gracefully from wooden dowels.

See more of Stu's dramatic mobiles in his Etsy shop Celestial Visions.

DESIGN: Giant Colored Pencils in the Forest

A few years ago, Helsinki-based Artist Jonna Pohjalainen spent the summer at an environmental art workshop in Pedvale, Latvia. She arrived there supply-less, but with an open mind. Every day, she would sit quietly, taking in the rural landscape, sharpening her pencils and watching the sunset. It was during those quiet moments that she got the brilliant idea to transform the gray aspen logs that surrounded her into gigantic color pencils.

FAMILY: Clementine's Natural Crayons

This is a great product from Clementine. They are natural soy crayons that are a smooth and creamy alternative to traditional crayons made with paraffin wax. They are made from Kosher soy wax, mineral pigments, beeswax, carnauba wax, vegetable stearic acid, calcium carbonate (chalk), natural brazilian rosin, and titanium dioxide. No chemical dyes or additives. Would love to try them one day.
